Data report
What an HVAC contractor list actually contains. Counted over 133,580 records scraped from Google Maps.
Across 133,580 HVAC contractor records scraped from Google Maps, 34.2% publish a mobile number, 25.9% a landline and 27.9% a VoIP line. 30.2% list no website at all and 7.5% publish no phone. A single ZIP search returns about 20 businesses, and the median listing holds 24 reviews.
A list of HVAC contractors, not leads for them. This page counts what a list of HVAC contractors contains - for an agency, software company or supplier selling to them. If you are an HVAC contractor looking for homeowner or customer jobs, this is not that: nothing here is a person asking for a quote.
The phone. Every HVAC contractor record our scrapes returned, by the kind of number on it.
Six shares of the same 133,580 records, so they add up. The line type is read from the number's own thousand block rather than its area code - the difference is worth a report of its own. Unnamed is a number we will not describe: the carrier records had no answer for it, or it is not a North American number at all. We would rather print that than round it into one of the four above.
What else the listing carries. Website, reviews, and how dense the map is.
A business with no website is the segment worth the most to anybody selling websites, SEO or ads, because it has already shown it will not build one itself - and it is orderable on its own, so you pay for those rows rather than sifting for them. The review count is a median rather than a mean: one chain with nine thousand reviews would otherwise speak for the whole trade.
IL answers 43.7% mobile. IN answers 21.6%. Same trade. Where you scrape moves the yield.
This is the figure worth planning around, and it is not a small effect: 22.1 points separate the best and worst states for reaching an HVAC contractor on a mobile, over samples of 5,083 and 4,485 rows. Nothing about the scraper or the classifier changes between them - the businesses simply publish different kinds of number in different places. A filtered order in the thinner state has to sweep more map to fill, which is why an order that runs out of map delivers what it found and refunds the rest rather than quietly costing more.
By state. States holding 3,000 HVAC contractor rows or more, biggest sample first.
What a row contains. The same columns as any list, filled from this niche.
| Company name | The name on the Google Maps listing |
|---|---|
| Phone number and line type | The number as listed, and its line type - mobile, landline, VoIP or toll-free - on any order that filtered by it |
| Owner name | When you bought the owner lookup: the confirmed name, or the row is not delivered |
| Address, city, state, ZIP | As listed, with the postal area it was swept from |
| Timezone | The listing's local zone, so a call list can be sorted by when the office opens |
| Category | The niche it was found under |
| Website | The listing's own site, or none - aggregator pages are dropped, not counted as a site |
| Rating and review count | The star rating and the review count at the moment of the scrape |
| Email and status | When you bought the email finder: the address off the business's own site, and on a verified-email order its verification result |
| Scraped at | The moment the listing was read, so nothing in the file is older than the run |
| Google Place ID and Maps link | So anyone on your team can check the listing in one click |
Method. After the argument, where it belongs.
Every figure above is counted over the 133,580 HVAC contractor records our scrapes have returned, read on 2026-09-25. A record enters that count when a scrape returns it, whatever the order's filters were, so the shares describe what Google Maps holds rather than what any one customer bought. A business returned by more than one scrape is counted each time, which weights the shares toward the areas customers order most - the same areas a new list is most likely to cover.
A phone becomes a line type by its NANPA thousand block - the carrier that holds the thousand numbers it belongs to - and not by its area code, which cannot answer the question at all. The median review count is a median rather than a mean, because one chain with nine thousand reviews would otherwise speak for the whole trade.
Reuse it. Quote any figure or table here with a link back to this page. No business is named and no phone number appears: these are aggregate statistics about public listings, which is a different thing from the lists we sell.
Questions.
A list of HVAC contractors themselves: the businesses, their numbers, websites and reviews, for agencies, software companies and suppliers who sell to them. It is not homeowner or customer leads for an HVAC contractor - nothing here is a person asking for a quote.
Sharply. IL answers 43.7% mobile across 5,083 rows, IN 21.6% across 4,485. Same trade, same scraper, same classifier. If you are buying mobiles by the thousand, where you scrape moves the yield more than anything else you can choose.
68.2% of the 37,672 businesses a search for the trade returned with a category reading name the trade as their own main Google category, over 37 scrapes by 17 customers since 2026-09-13, read 2026-09-25. A search returns neighbouring trades as well. Any order with a filter on leaves out, free, the businesses whose Google category puts them in another trade group, and the niche-match filter keeps only the businesses whose own main category is the trade, for 0.5 credit more a lead.
34.2% of the 133,580 HVAC contractor records we have scraped publish a number that resolves to a wireless carrier, against 25.9% landline and 27.9% VoIP. The line type is read from the number's own NANPA thousand block rather than guessed from its area code, which is a distinction worth HVAC contractor money - see the Line Type Report for why an area code cannot answer it.
30.2%. That is the segment worth the most to anybody selling websites, SEO or ads, because the business has already shown it will not build one itself. Leadity can filter a scrape down to exactly those rows, so a list of 30.2% is what you pay for rather than what you sift for.
About 20, averaged over every ZIP and FSA we have swept for this niche. It is the number that decides how much map an order needs: a list of 1,000 HVAC contractors is roughly 49 ZIP codes of searching before any filter is applied, and every filter raises that.
Both, and they are different steps. The number is scraped from the listing, then classified against our own copy of the NANPA thousand-block table - the table that says which carrier holds each block of a thousand numbers. 7.5% of these records publish no phone at all; those are delivered only if you asked for business records rather than a phone filter, and they are priced as the cheaper product.
Yes - turn on the email filter and only businesses whose own website publishes an address are delivered, with the address, at 1 credit a record: $16 to $58 for 1,000. A search for HVAC contractors returns neighbouring trades too, and any order with a filter on leaves out, free, the businesses whose Google category puts them in another trade group. At 1.5 credits the address must also come back deliverable. 69.8% of these records list a website, and that is the ceiling - a business with no site has no address to find, and is never billed.
It depends on the filters, and every price is per record delivered. A business record is 0.2 credit, from $0.0032. Keeping only numbers the carrier record says are mobiles makes it 1 credit, from $0.016 - so 1,000 verified mobiles cost $16 to $58. Adding the owner's name makes it 3.5 credits, from $0.0559. The range is the plan you buy credits on. On this trade, 40.6% of the 1,235 businesses the owner lookup finished had an owner's name confirmed by independent sources, over 9 scrapes by 3 customers since 2026-08-27, read 2026-09-25.
Google Maps, scraped live when an order runs, then counted. The shares above are over every HVAC contractor record our scrapes have returned, read on 2026-09-25. No business is named here and no number is published - these are aggregate statistics about public listings, which is a different thing from the lists we sell.
Other trades counted: Roofing contractors, Plumbers, Landscapers, House cleaning services (all of them). Related: how a line type is decided, an email list of the trade, the no-website filter, and what each filter costs.

Pick the states, keep only the line type you want, and export - from $0.0032 a business record, $0.016 with a carrier-verified mobile, $0.0559 with the owner's name as well.
