Australian business leads
Australian business leads
Australian business leads are local businesses with phones, websites and ratings, pulled from Google Maps by postcode into a spreadsheet. The ABS counted 2,814,778 actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026. Mobiles start 04, business numbers cannot go on the Do Not Call Register, and Leadity is free to start with 300 credits.

How do Australian business phone numbers look?
Australian mobile numbers start 04 and have 10 digits, written +61 4 from abroad. Landlines start 02, 03, 07 or 08 by region, and many business lines start 13 or 1800.
Australian number prefixes and how Leadity reads them
| Prefix | What it is | How Leadity reads it |
|---|---|---|
| 04 | Mobile | Mobile if ACMA's register shows the number issued; VoIP if a VoIP provider holds the range |
| 02, 03, 07, 08 | Geographic landline, by region | Landline, or VoIP if a VoIP provider holds the range |
| 13, 1300, 1800 | Business and free-to-call numbers | Toll-free class |
| Anything else | Satellite, internet of things, premium rate | Other or unknown |

ACMA's Register of Numbers names a service type for every range, so Leadity reads the type off the register itself. A number in a range ACMA shows as spare was never issued, and reads as unknown.
Each number goes through four steps: its format is standardized to +61, its range is checked as issued, the range holder is looked up, and its line type is set.

What are the rules for calling and emailing Australian businesses?
Business numbers cannot go on the Do Not Call Register, and telemarketing calls have fixed hours. The register's site says business telephone numbers are not eligible for registration, but a number used mainly for private purposes can be registered, so a sole trader's personal mobile may be on it.

Email and text fall under the Spam Act 2003. Schedule 2 says a published address alone does not give you consent. There is one exception. A work address clearly published for an employee, director, partner or self-employed person can carry consent, if the publication does not refuse messages. Your message must then relate to their work-related business, functions or duties.
Every message must also be removable: take people off your list within 5 working days of an unsubscribe request, and keep the unsubscribe option working for at least 30 days after you send. ACMA can investigate and fine your business.

How do you build an Australian call list from Google Maps?
Pick a trade and a state
Leadity sells all 8 states and territories: the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.
Search by postcode
Each of Leadity's 2,637 four-digit postcodes is one search, such as 2000 for Sydney. Write the query the way an Australian address ends: trade, postcode, suburb, state, Australia.
Keep only Australian businesses
Maps sometimes fills a search with distant results. Leadity drops any listing pinned outside Australia.
Check each phone number
A number that starts 04 and sits in an issued ACMA range reads as mobile. A number in an unissued range reads as unknown, and the mobile filter never delivers it.
Check the time zone
Australia runs on five clock settings: Eastern, Eastern without daylight saving (Queensland), Central, Central without daylight saving (Northern Territory) and Western. Leadity puts each lead's time zone in the export.
Tip: Check each lead's local time against the permitted hours.
Remove repeats and export
Leadity skips businesses already in your account and does not bill them. The export is a CSV or Excel file.

Does an Australian list cost more than a US one?
No: Leadity uses one rate card in every country and bills in US dollars, not Australian dollars. A business record is 0.2 credit and a verified mobile adds 0.8, so records start from $0.0032 and verified mobiles from $0.016.

Questions people ask
How many businesses are there in Australia?
According to the ABS release of 18 August 2026, there were 2,814,778 actively trading businesses at 30 June 2026, and 996,203 of them employed staff. In 2025-26, 460,461 businesses entered and 375,331 exited, so a list of businesses ages quickly.
Can you cold call Australian businesses?
Business numbers cannot be registered on the Do Not Call Register, so a business list is mostly outside it, but telemarketing hours still matter: weekdays 9 am to 8 pm, Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm and no Sundays, according to the register's own site. A sole trader's mainly private mobile can be registered. This is not legal advice.
Can you email Australian businesses without consent?
Only where the Spam Act allows it. Publishing an address does not by itself give consent, but a conspicuously published work address for an employee, director, partner or self-employed person can, if it carries no refusal and your message relates to their work. Honour unsubscribes within 5 working days. This is not legal advice.
How do I spot an Australian mobile number?
Australian mobile numbers start 04 and have 10 digits, written +61 4 from abroad. Leadity reads each number against ACMA's register and sorts it into mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free or other. With the mobile filter on, only mobiles are delivered, and numbers in a range ACMA shows as spare are not.
Which Australian states does Leadity cover?
Leadity sells all 8 states and territories: the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. Each is searched postcode by postcode, 2,637 in all. Niche names are in US English, so check the first results of a small order.
Does Leadity charge more for Australian leads?
Leadity uses one rate card in every country and bills in US dollars. A business record is 0.2 credit, so records start from $0.0032, and the mobile filter adds 0.8 credit. Every new account gets 300 free credits at sign-up, enough for 1,500 business records or 300 verified mobiles, with no card needed.
