Canadian business leads
Canada business leads list
A Canada business leads list is a spreadsheet of local businesses with phones, websites and ratings, pulled from Google Maps by postal area. Statistics Canada counted 1.37 million employer businesses in December 2025. Calls to businesses fall outside the National Do Not Call List, but email and text fall under CASL. Leadity is free to start with 300 credits.

Part 1 of 2: Calling businesses
Can you cold call Canadian businesses?
Yes, mostly. The National DNCL Rules do not apply to telemarketing calls made to businesses, so a business list does not need to be checked against the National Do Not Call List. The Telemarketing Rules and the ADAD Rules still apply to every telemarketer, and you must keep an internal do-not-call list.
In a news release of 9 September 2019 the CRTC gave the permitted hours as 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends, in the time zone of the person you call. Leadity puts a time zone on every Canadian lead. Check the current rules before you dial.

Which Canadian rules apply to your plan?
If You will phone businesses yourself
Then Keep an internal do-not-call list and call inside the permitted hours. A National DNCL check is not required for business calls
If You will use an autodialer or recorded messages
Then The ADAD Rules apply on top of the Telemarketing Rules. Read them before you load the list
If You will email or text businesses
If You are not sure
Then Ask a Canadian lawyer, because this page is not legal advice
Part 2 of 2: Emailing or texting
Can you email or text Canadian businesses?
Yes, if you have express consent or the consent can be implied. Canada's anti-spam law, CASL, covers commercial electronic messages, and it implies consent when the person has conspicuously published the address, the publication carries no refusal, and the message is relevant to the person's business, role, functions or duties.
A business address on a shop's own website may therefore support an offer that fits that business, but not an unrelated pitch. The penalty cap for a violation is $1,000,000 for an individual and $10 million for any other person.
conspicuously published, or has caused to be conspicuously published, the electronic address to which the message is sent
How many businesses are there in Canada?
- 1.37 million employer businesses, December 2025, counted by operating location Statistics Canada
- 3.67 million non-employer businesses with annual revenues above $30,000 Statistics Canada
- 1,099,521 employer enterprises, December 2024, counted by ISED Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
Statistics Canada counts each operating location, so a chain with ten shops adds ten. ISED counts enterprises, so the same chain adds one. Of the 1,099,521 employer enterprises, 98.2% have 1 to 99 employees.
Leadity's Q3 2026 Google Maps data (1 July to 30 September 2026) holds 55,370 Canadian businesses. Customers chose what to scrape, so this is not a census. 63.5% of their listings show no website, against 35.3% of US listings.
What this means for you: in this data, Canadian listings more often showed no website than US listings, which matters if you sell websites.

How do Canadian phone numbers differ from US ones?
Canadian numbers look like US ones, because Canada shares the North American Numbering Plan: ten digits, written +1 from abroad, as a three-digit area code, a three-digit central office code and four more digits.
The area code does not tell you the line type. In Leadity's count of 1,539,378 US and Canadian number blocks, read 22 September 2026, 47.5% of exchanges hold more than one kind of line. Leadity checks each number in four steps, and with the mobile filter on it delivers only mobiles.
What this means for you: you cannot spot a mobile from its area code or its first six digits. Leadity checks each number, so you do not have to.
In Leadity's Q3 2026 Google Maps data, 48.6% of the phone numbers on Canadian listings are mobiles, against 36.7% on US listings.
What this means for you: in this data, a Canadian listed number was more often a mobile than a US one.

How do you pull Canadian businesses from Google Maps?
Search one forward sortation area (FSA) at a time. A postal code such as T2P 1J9 starts with an FSA, T2P, and a Maps search shows only a short, ranked list, so a scraper covers a province with many small searches and removes the repeats. Leadity sells 1,641 FSAs across 12 provinces and territories.

Questions people ask
How many businesses are there in Canada?
According to the Statistics Canada release of 13 February 2026, Canada had 1.37 million employer businesses in December 2025, counted by location. Statistics Canada also counted 3.67 million non-employer businesses with revenues above $30,000. ISED counts 1,099,521 employer enterprises, a stricter definition.
Does the National Do Not Call List cover business numbers?
The National DNCL Rules do not apply to telemarketing calls made to businesses, so a business list needs no wash against the list. The Telemarketing Rules and the ADAD Rules still apply, and every telemarketer must keep an internal do-not-call list. Leadity does not scrub lists, so keep your own. This is not legal advice.
Do I need consent to email a Canadian business?
Under CASL you need express or implied consent. Consent is implied when the address was conspicuously published, carries no refusal, and the message is relevant to the person's business, role, functions or duties. The maximum penalty is $1,000,000 for an individual and $10 million for any other person. This is not legal advice.
Can Leadity find mobile numbers for Canadian businesses?
Yes, the mobile filter works in Canada as in the US, because both use the North American Numbering Plan. In Leadity's Q3 2026 Google Maps data (1 July to 30 September 2026), 48.6% of phone numbers on Canadian listings were mobiles. Only numbers that pass the four steps as mobiles are delivered, and a failed lead is never billed.
Which Canadian provinces does Leadity cover?
Leadity sells 12 provinces and territories: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Yukon. Prince Edward Island is not sold. Each is searched FSA by FSA, 1,641 in all.
Does Leadity charge more for Canadian leads?
Leadity uses one rate card in every country and bills in US dollars. A business record is 0.2 credit, so records start from $0.0032, and the mobile filter adds 0.8 credit. Every new account gets 300 free credits at sign-up, enough for 1,500 business records or 300 verified mobiles, with no card needed.
