Census counts 13,603 exterminating and pest control firms with payroll (2022), against 11,449 pest control businesses in Leadity's Q3 2026 Google Maps data, or 0.8 per firm. That is close to one-to-one, though the scrapes cover only the areas customers chose. Firms average 10.3 employees, 65.3% of them employ fewer than five, and together they took in about $19.6 billion.

Florida leads the Census firm count (1,924), ahead of California (1,681), Texas (1,307), New York (728) and Georgia (515). Since no state holds 3,000 pest control businesses, these firm counts are the best map of the trade.

Who sells to pest control companies, and what they need first

Companies that sell to pest control services buy these lists, not technicians looking for jobs.

Chemical and sprayer distributors sell to licensed applicators, and the 13,603 Census firms are the universe they work from.

Route and recurring-billing software fits a business built on monthly and quarterly visits, and the 65.3% of firms with fewer than five employees are its smaller buyers.

Agencies selling review requests and Google profile work start from the 40-review middle listing and the 25.3% of listings without a site.

How we read the VoIP lead

Give pest control figures their 20 October 2026 read date, and call the VoIP and review readings listing statistics. The linked pages write up the method, the limits and the prices.

Pest control: the mobile sweep, Census firms, states

Context for researchers. The Census counts only firms with at least one paid employee, so one-person businesses are missing. It is not a Leadity dataset. Skip it if you only need a list.

Why does a pest control mobile list take so many searches?

A pest control mobile list takes many searches because only 25.6% of pest control businesses list a mobile, twenty-ninth of 32. Filling 1,000 verified mobiles therefore means reading about 3,906 businesses, 310 ZIP searches in all. Accepting VoIP and landlines too widens the file to 83.9% of listings. Read 20 October 2026.

Is a pest control Census firm the same as a Google Maps business?

A pest control Census firm is not the same as a Google Maps business. Against 13,603 Census firms with payroll stand 11,449 pest control businesses from customer scrapes, 0.8 per firm. A firm with several locations has several listings, and the scrapes cover only the areas customers searched, so treat the ratio as a scale check. Read 20 October 2026.

Does pest control have a state table?

No pest control state table exists: no single state reaches 3,000 pest control businesses, the floor for a state row, so the report maps the trade with Census firms by state. You can still preview the trade-wide figures for free and order a list for one state or a set of ZIP codes. Read 20 October 2026.
