List of flooring companies.
Flooring is the most state-dependent trade: Florida lists a mobile 50.1% of the time, Virginia 26.9%, the widest of 17 state gaps. Census counts 17,777 flooring firms against 151,120 businesses, 8.5 each. A business in Leadity's Q3 2026 Google Maps data is a listing, not a Census firm.

Do flooring files lean on landlines?
Landlines weigh more in flooring than in most trades (27.8%, tenth highest of 32, median 22%). Mobiles come in at 40%, about 60,400 numbers and close to the median, with VoIP at 19%.
Thin on reviews, heavy on missing websites
- 36.0%No website
- 12Reviews, median business
- 17Businesses per ZIP search
Flooring leans websiteless: 36% of listings link none (eighth highest of 32, median 31.2%), and the half-way listing holds 12 reviews, under the 16 of the typical trade. A ZIP search finds 17 contractors.
Flooring returns an owner name less often than any other trade
Flooring is the hardest trade to put a name to. The owner-name lookup checked 643 flooring contractors between 15 and 30 September 2026 and named an owner for only 16.8%, the lowest rate among the 17 trades it has a figure for. Car detailing services are next lowest at 17.7%, and the rate over every business checked was 29.3%.
Why is not in the data; a name is returned only once independent sources agree on it.
How small is the Census base for flooring?
Context for researchers. The Census counts only firms with at least one paid employee, so one-person businesses are missing. It is not a Leadity dataset. Skip it if you only need a list.

Census gives flooring a code of its own: 17,777 employer firms (2022), a small group beside 151,120 businesses. That is 8.5 per firm, second only to roofing contractors at 13.3, and Tennessee reaches 42.5.
Flooring firms are small, too: 77.5% have fewer than five employees, the average has 4.8, and receipts per firm are about $1.4 million. Installers without payroll fall outside the Census count while each still has a Google Maps listing, so a business count here says little about how many flooring firms a state holds.

California is the biggest flooring state (24,260) but a weak one for mobiles, 34.8%, below the trade's 40%. Pennsylvania (9,894, 40.5%) and Tennessee (9,171, 39.6%) follow, and Florida's 50.1% is the table's best. The top three states hold 28.7% of the trade.
Of the twelve states, 5 beat 40%. Virginia is the weakest for mobiles, while on missing websites Minnesota is lowest (29.3%) and Ohio highest (42%).
FL answers 50.1% mobile. VA answers 26.9%, so the same 1,000 mobiles take 1.9 times the reading in Virginia.
- 50.1%FL, mobile share
- 26.9%VA, mobile share
Virginia still holds 4,937 flooring businesses, so the low figure is not a thin sample, and no other trade's best and worst states sit further apart. Reading 1,000 verified mobiles takes 1,996 businesses in Florida and 3,717 in Virginia.
Who buys flooring contractor lists?
Hardwood, vinyl, carpet and underlayment wholesalers, measuring-software vendors and agencies are the buyers; installers seeking work are not. Wholesalers pick branch locations by state, and the state table shows where installers answer a mobile.
Measuring and quoting apps suit crews of 4.8 people on average, the size the Census finds.
Agencies selling first websites start from 36% of listings with none, with Ohio the thickest market at 42%.
Installers' tool and adhesive suppliers can pair the landline share (27.8%) with the mobile share to plan how they call.

Flooring: Virginia, Ohio and the Census base
Why does Virginia lag Florida so far on flooring mobiles?
Virginia lags Florida by 23.2 points, the widest state gap of any trade: a mobile shows on 26.9% of Virginia's 4,937 flooring businesses and on 50.1% of Florida's 8,435. The data does not say why. In practice 1,000 verified mobiles cost 3,717 businesses read in Virginia and 1,996 in Florida. Read 20 October 2026.
Why are there 8.5 flooring businesses for every Census firm?
There are 8.5 flooring businesses for every Census firm because Census counts only 17,777 flooring employer firms, while customer scrapes in Q3 2026 found 151,120 flooring businesses. Installers without payroll are not Census firms, and a firm with several places has several listings. In Tennessee the ratio reaches 42.5, so treat it as scale. Read 20 October 2026.
Where are flooring contractors least likely to have a website?
Ohio is where flooring contractors are least likely to have a website: 42% of its listings lack one, against 29.3% in Minnesota. The table shows where, not why. For a first-website pitch Ohio has the most flooring listings to start from and Minnesota the fewest. Read 20 October 2026.
