Car detailing: California, websites and density

What does California tell us about car detailing?

California shows both of the trade's traits in sharper form. Its 3,973 detailing businesses, 20.1% of the file, put a mobile on 49.5% of listings, below the trade's 54.1%, and leave 46.6% without a website, against 42.9%. Other states fall under the 3,000-business floor. Read 20 October 2026.

Why do car detailers have so many listings without a website?

The table shows that 42.9% of 19,756 detailing businesses show no website, the highest of 32 trades against a 31.2% median, and the data stops short of a reason. What the figure does show is a trade where a first-website pitch finds more listings to start from than anywhere else, and where California runs higher still. Read 20 October 2026.

Why does a ZIP search find so many car detailers?

The data shows density, not the cause: a search returns about 31 detailers, second of 32 against a median of 20, so a plain pull of 1,000 businesses takes only 32 searches. Each business is counted once, so the density is real listings, not repeats. Read 20 October 2026.
